Selma Baker, 84, the devoted wife or David A. Baker for over 50 yrs. and a resident of Oronoque Village, Stratford, died Jan. 3, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born December 2, 1924; daughter of the late David and Beatrice Saperstein of New York City. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Dean (daughter-in-law, Amy) of Hamden and Barry (daughter-in-law, Marie) of West Hartford and her five cherished grandchildren, David, Sarah, Max, Caroline, and Bryan. She is also survived by her treasured and loving sister, Libby Schwartz. She was predeceased by her sister Phyllis. She was a graduate of New York University and former resident , for many years, of Woodbridge. She was a member of the Woodbridge Country Club where she served as a member of the Board of Directors and chair of the tennis committee. She was an avid tennis player and won many club and town championships. She was extremely adept at bridge and loved to play golf. She was also very involved in volunteer work for charitable organizations. 
Graveside funeral service at the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven, Thursday morning at 11:AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
