Lillian Greene, 82, formerly of 34 Oberlin Road , Hamden , CT passed away on Sunday, February 1, at Atria Larson Place in Hamden . She was the beloved daughter of the late Ira and Jennie Greene, sister of the late Barbara Greene Rubin and her late husband Samuel L. Rubin; and aunt of the late Karen L. Rubin. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Greene Tewksbury and brother-in-law Robert A. Tewksbury of New Haven; brother David Z. Greene and sister-in-law Sylvia D. Greene of North Haven ; niece Robin L. Tewksbury of Hamden and nephews Howard M. Rubin of Cheshire and Shawn T. Greene, of North Haven . She also leaves a grandnephew, Steven L. Rubin of Cheshire and grandnieces Sarah M. Rubin of Hamden and Barbara G. Rubin of West Boca Raton , Florida .

Lillian spent a 40-year professional career at The Southern New England Telephone Company, where she served in the Business Office, worked as a Service Representative and in the Centralized Mail Department, where she rose to a management level supervisor. She was a former treasurer and board member of the New Haven Woman’s Club and was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneer’s Club. Lillian was a literacy volunteer, who spent many years reading to children in the New Haven School System. While finding opportunities in her lifetime to travel abroad, she also dedicated herself to caring for her parents, who developed physical challenges in their later lives. She was also instrumental in giving significant guidance and aid to the establishment and strengthening of her sibling’s careers. Lillian was held in the highest respect and honor by her friends, business associates and in later life, by her caregivers at Atria Larson Place . Throughout her life she earned the love and appreciation of everyone she met. 

Services in honor of Lillian will be held at Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Avenue , Hamden , CT , at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 5. Friends may visit with the family, beginning at 9:15 am , at the Synagogue. The Interment will be in the Columbus Lodge Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven. The family will sit Shiva, Thursday evening, at the home of her brother, David Greene, 38 Old Orchard Road ,
