Sylvia Zitser of Boynton Beach, FL., formerly of New Haven, beloved wife of Gerald Zitser for 61 years and daughter of the late Nathan and Rose Lichter, peacefully passed away at her home on April 14, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Barry Zitser and his wife Sharon Heyman of Bloomfield, Harriett Blakeslee and her husband Jon and grandchild, Sara, of Stuart, FL and Suzanne Curtis and her husband Scott of Meriden, her brother, Dr. Harvey Lichter and his wife Betty Fransen-Lichter of Orange, many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and her many friends, especially her dear friend Alma Cohen.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Sigal, Mollye Barnett, Mildred Hillman, and Adele Lev; and her father-in-law Harry Zitser and mother-in-law Goldye Zitser. Sibby, born in New Haven on April 15, 1926, was a school psychologist in the New Haven, school system and an avid bridge player and golfer. She graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1944 and she attended the University of Connecticut and went on to graduate from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in school psychology and a masters in psychology. 
Service in the Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven Monday morning at 9:30. Interment in the Beaverdale Memorial Park, entering on Pine Rock Rd. Following the services her family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Harvey Lichter, 515 Ferry Road in Orange.
