Adele Adler Gordon

IMG_0001   Adele Adler Gordon,92,of New Haven, beloved wife of Israel(Babe)Gordon for 69 years, died unexpectedly of a massive stroke on Saturday,  August 8. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities throughout her life, most especially The Brandeis Women’s Committee and The Yale New Haven Hospital. Family and friends were of primary importance in her life.  She was loved, admired and served as a life role model for all who knew her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 3 children, Beth and Michael Davis of Newton, Mass., Cynthia and Philip Strause of San Mateo, California and John and Frances Gordon of New Haven : 8 grandchildren, Danny and Lisa Davis, Jonathan and Kimberly Davis, Gordon and Tina Strause, Charles and Yoshie Strause, Emily and Brian Sena, Geoffrey and Floor Gordon, Anne and Robert Chahade and Jenna Gordon.  She also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren: Zoë, Marc, Joshua and Emma Davis, Noah, Halle, Hana, Madeleine and Jeremy Strause, Jacob, Luke and Maggie Sena, Juliet and William Chahade and Primo Gordon. She was the sister of the late Milton and Flossie Adler, Judith Cole and Eunice Magill. She also leaves behind her best friend and sister-in-law Merle Weisman of New Haven. Adele was known for her radiant smile, her optimism and her warmth. She will be truly missed.
    Private interment will be at the Mishkan Israel Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to the funeral service and reception at Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Rd., Hamden, Sunday afternoon at 2. The Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
