My Condolences to Judy and the Koret Family. I knew Jerry through our involvement in the Greater New Haven Community Chorus. A wonderful tenor, he always kept me in tune. I appreciated his work on the board of directors of the Chorus for many years. I am certain that now that he is free, his spirit will guide all of us from above. Let’s remember the wonderful things he did in his life.

To the family and friends of Jerry Koret, you have my sincere sympathy. In addition to his other accomplishments, Jerry was appointed by Governor John Rowland to serve on the State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) to the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS). The SRC provides recommendations to BRS regarding effective programs and services to help CT residents with significant disabilities find competitive employment and independent living. Jerry served on the SRC for six years (the maximum allowed); the last two he served as the Chair of the SRC. Jerry’s commitment was unwaivering. He was instrumental in raising the expectations of the members of the SRC to show up and speak out. During his years on the SRC, Jerry was supportive of me and my work. He was always ready with a compliment and encouraging word! It was my pleasure to work with and learn from Jerry Koret. He had a big voice and big heart!

    Dear Judy,

I spoke with our mutual friend, Kathy Huffman, today and learned of Jerry’s passing. She was so pleased to attend the memorial for your father in Milwaukee. It was the first I heard of his passing. What wonderful memories you must have of both these fine men in your life. Please know that you are in my thoughts.

We must all get together soon. It’s been too long.

    Dear Judy,

Janet Wallens, a Weaver High School classmate and friend, just informed me of Jerry’s passing. Please accept my condolences. Jerry and I were very good friends during our school years. We graduated together as well as attended classes at Emanuel Synagogue. I believe that I last saw Jerry and you at our 45th reunion. I remember that he was very involved setting up a reunion web site. I was sad that he was not able to attend out 50th this past October. My thought are with you and your family. I will pass this on to the Weaver High School e-mail list.
