Jack Evans

 Jack Evans passed away on March 13, 2014 from complications that arose following heart surgery in February.  Jack was born July 8, 1932 in Meriden, CT and lived in southern Connecticut most of his life.  Following high school in New Haven and college at UConn, he served in the Air Force, then worked for multiple defense contractors, including RCA and Electric Boat.  He met his wife Sandee in Los Angeles; they were married in 1963.  They raised two sons, Peter and Michael, in Orange.  More recently “Jackie” lived in Stratford, Shelton, and Bridgeport.  In retirement he enjoyed adventure traveling, hiking, cruises, and UConn football and basketball games.  Besides his sons Peter and Michael, he leaves his daughters in law, Becky and Anu, four grandchildren, Shoshana, Shira, Aditi and Maya; his sister in law Irma Evans, his dear friend Betty Roffman, many cousins scattered across the Eastern Seaboard, and his beloved UConn Huskies; his brother Alvin and parents Sam and Mary predeceased him.
   Funeral service at Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Rd., Orange, CT, Friday morning at 11:am. The interment will be in the Or Shalom Cemetery, Farwell St., West Haven.

    Shiva will be held at the Watermark Apartments at 3030 Park Ave. Bridgeport at 8:30 pm on Saturday (to allow people to attend Purim services) and 7:30 pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Wednesday Shiva will be at 7:30 pm at Peter’s home in Baltimore, and Thursday Shiva will be at 7:30 pm at Michael’s home in Takoma Park.
