Ruth Livia Forman

Ruth Livia Forman of New Haven and Palm Beach, passed on peacefully this Mon. morning at Hospice Care in Branford. She was the widow of the late Dr. Joseph B. Forman, and most beloved mother of Mitch Forman of Hamden, and Jolie Lynn Forman of Stratford. She also leaves to mourn her ever-loyal and loving companion George Ionescu, also of Palm Beach. ‘Livia’ was born in 1921 in Newark, NJ., the youngest child of Joseph and Anna Weiner of East Orange, NJ. She was predeceased by sisters Ethel, Betty and Sybil, dear brother-in-law Dr. Bob Weinstein, and brother Charles Martin whom she revered and always looked up to. She also leaves favorite nephews Dr. David (Paula) Weinstein of Stamford and Dr. Richard (Cathy) Weinstein of Chicago. Someone who loved life and people above all, she had an amazingly generous number of good friends ever since moving to New Haven in 1950 from Chicago – many of whom she first met while volunteering at the New Haven Jewish Community Center where she eventually became president of the Women’s Assembly; sadly, most of her dearest friends have since predeceased her.
Graveside Service to be held Wednesday at 1 P.M. in Mishkan Israel Cemetery Jewell St., New Haven. Private period of mourning to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St.Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of one’s choice are most appreciated. The last rose of summer has wilted and gone. Our golden bird with the sun shining on her wings has flown away forever now. At least we held her onceā€¦
