Andre Yontef

Andre Yontef of Hamden passed away suddenly on September 24, 2018 in Bristol, Connecticut where he worked as a Water Maintenance Technician for the Bristol Water Department. Andre was born in New Haven on January 6, 1979 to Paul and Martha Yontef.  He attended schools in New Haven and Hamden, and graduated from Amity High School in Woodbridge; he also attended Southern Connecticut State University.  Andre leaves two siblings, Monica Gaffney of Costa Mesa, California, and Steven Yontef of Naples, Florida.  Only those who knew him can truly understand the magnitude of this loss.  He was such a wonderful human being, loved by his family and friends.  Known for his caring, selfless demeanor, he was always ready, willing and able to help not only a friend, but also a stranger in distress.  He was considerate of others feelings, sensitive, generous and kind.  A smile almost always graced his handsome face. He loved music, the New York Giants, playing basketball, fishing, and fun. He was married to the former Miss Kelly Caldwell of Pennsylvania.  Together they had two lovely daughters, Avery, age 10, and Cassie, age 7 whom he was very devoted to.  He took them everywhere, and to all of their soccer and swimming competitions.  He taught them to skateboard.  He really adored his girls. A wonderful father to them. Andre’s family and many friends have nothing but praise for him.  Many people know that Andre treated everyone the same, and that he himself seemed to always be the same in all situations. One often hears it said that so-and-so passed away way too early.  This can truly be said of this excellent young man.  Andre, we love you and will always remember you and miss you. Always.

Funeral service will be private with interment in the B’nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave., New Haven.

Andre was one of my best friends for the last 25 years. There are no words to express how much I will miss him or how much I loved him. My life will forever be a little darker without his light in it.

I have been a long time friend of Kelly and her family and got to know Andre through the Caldwell’s. I attended Andre and Kelly’s beautiful wedding. It was wonderful to see them and their adorable children on visits home in Philadelphia and photos shared by Claudia and Caitlyn. Andre was such a loving father and a sweet man. I was always so happy to see Andre as he lit up my eyes and my heart. Now my heart is broken. I love you Andre and I will always remember you for your smile, kindness and love for your family and friends. May peace be with you. Gone away but never forgotten. Prayers to your loving family.
