Obituary

Arthur Harry Greenberg, 96, of New Haven, passed away on January 4, 2019. He was married to the late Rose Feldman Greenberg for 53 years. Art was born in New Haven, CT on March 19, 1922 to the late Michael and Sarah Greenberg. He attended Hillhouse High School prior to entering the Navy in World War II. Art served on the USS Tuscaloosa and was in the battles of D-Day, Casablanca, Murmansk, Okinawa and others. He worked with his father in the Ideal Kosher Restaurant and later owned Spic and Span Cleaners. He has worked at the Jewish Community Center since 2001. Art is survived by his three children, Lawrence Greenberg (Gail) of Woodbridge, Allan Greenberg (Ellen) of Branford and Mark Greenberg (Tami) of New York City. He will also be cherished in the memory of his grandchildren, Jennifer Weissman, Melissa, Allison, Daniel, Matthew and Kate Greenberg as well as great grandchildren Emily and Hailey Weissman. He will also be dearly missed by many loving nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his sister Estelle Hoffman and his brother Seymour Greenberg.

Funeral services will be held at the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  Shiva will be observed at the home of Rob and Betsy Sachs, 39 Northford Road, Branford, CT Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the JCC of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge, CT 06525.
