David A. Baker, age 94, a resident of Woodbridge and formerly of Stratford, died on February 20, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice. He was predeceased by Selma, his beloved wife of 52 years. He was born on October 11, 1915; son of the late Max L. and Gertrude Baker of New Haven. He is survived by his sons, Dean (daughter-in-law, Amy) of Hamden and Barry (daughter-in-law, Marie) of West Hartford and his five cherished grandchildren, David, Sarah, Max, Caroline, and Bryan. He was predeceased by his brother Milton. He attended Hillhouse High School and was a graduate of Yale University, class of 1937. He was Executive Vice President of both the Majestic Silver Company and the Regal Specialty Manufacturing Company, flatware companies that were founded by his father. He was a captain in the US Army Air Corps and served in the 9th Air Force in the European theater of operations in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement. He was a member of the Woodbridge Country Club, an avid tennis player and a founding member of the New Haven Tennis Association.
Funeral service at the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell Street, New Haven, Friday morning at 10. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
