David Charles Greenstein

David Charles Greenstein, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 10, husband to his devoted wife of 52 years, Florence “Faye Green” Greenstein. David was born in Hamden, Connecticut, attended Hamden High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Haven, and a Master’s degree in computer science from the University of New Haven. He was an accomplished musician and songwriter, initially playing in bands in both high school and college. As a professional musician, he specialized in bass guitar (but played many other instruments including guitar, piano, and drums) and traveled across the United States with his wife, Faye, a singer, when they performed together as “Faye & Green.” David later worked for the Travelers insurance company before joining IBM, where he had a successful career as a senior systems engineer.

David held a positive attitude through his health challenges, had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed listening to the music he loved, especially funk and fusion, and kept his smile throughout.

David is the son of the late Seymour and Claire Greenstein. He is survived by his sister, Susan Greenstein, nephew Christopher Loomis, and niece Sarah Sedlock. He also leaves brother Michael Smith (Andrea) and his extended family, Martin Charles Cohen and his wife Linda, and nieces Tara Katynski (Pete), Shannon Stevens (Matt), and great nieces and nephews, Peter, Taylor, Mia, Brandon, and Sam.

In David’s memory donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Faye expresses her sincere love and appreciation to the staff at Apple Rehab Laurel Woods in East Haven, with special gratitude to his nurses and CNAs, social workers, and front desk team.

And especially to his private CNA, Ivonne Gutierrez, for her care and compassion to David through the years.
