Friederike (Fritzi) Fischbach, 91, formerly of North Branford, died peacefully on October 26th in the home of her caregiver with the kind help of CT Hospice, Branford. Fritzi of Pompano Beach, Florida immigrated with her parents to the United States from Austria in 1938 after surviving the Holocaust. She married her husband, Ferdinand, in 1949. A devoted mother she is survived by her two sons, Bob and Gerry, of North Branford, their wives Bonnie Symansky and Stephanie Knoll as well as her grandson Francis of San Francisco. Fritzi successfully practiced electrolysis maintaining her own business in North Branford for twenty five years. She was known for her style, smile and storytelling. She loved music, played the piano, and was multilingual. She retired in 1985 and moved with her husband to Florida where she enjoyed the beach, her family and company of friends. The family is particularly grateful to Vickie Cohen-Canth, her caregiver, confidant and friend for the last seven years. They also want to express their gratitude to Doctors Smith, Reynolds, Parusch and Zaheer as well as the CT Hospice of Branford. All provided wonderful care and comfort.
A memorial service will be held 11:am Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at the Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven.
