Gary Parker, 60, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in New Haven, CT on March 30, 1951, a son of the late Yale and Norma (Yaffe) Parker. Gary attended New Haven Public Schools as a boy, until severe illness necessitated that he come to live at the Southbury Training School in February, 1961. Gary had many difficulties to overcome in his life, yet despite these, he was a friendly, good natured man who loved to smile. He loved his home, and spending time with others. Those who knew him well, fondly remember that his favorite way to relax was in a recliner with a blanket surrounding him like a cocoon. Gary was a Beatles fan, and loved their music. He will especially be missed by his friends Vivian, Terry, and Lisa. Gary had close relationships with many people who worked with him over the years. He was loved by all. Gary is survived by his brother Stuart Parker and his wife Bonnie of Dallas, Texas as well as his brother Craig Parker, of Torrington, CT. He was predeceased by his brother Lee.
Funeral service will be private with interment in the Beth El Memorial Park, Warner St., Hamden. A memorial service at STS is planned for a later date.
