Gerald (Jerry) R. Berg. MD (74), cherished husband of Barbara L. Berg of 53 years, and longtime New Haven area resident, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on February 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Jackson Heights, NY in May 1942, son of the late Alban and Sylvia Berg and brother of the late Stanley Berg. Jerry was the loving father of Adam and Melissa P. of Wolcott, VT, Jason and Laura Berg of North Hampton, MA and Melissa and Andrew Lawson of Woodbridge, CT. He was also the best Papa ever to Matthew, Alex and Emily, Samantha and Sarah, and Ginger and Daisy. Jerry was honored to serve the Waterbury community for over 40 years as a physician and founding member of Diagnostic Radiology Associates. He was a proud member of Congregation B'nai Jacob where he served on various committees. Upon retirement, Jerry could not sit still so he invested his time in volunteering to coach tennis at both North Haven High School and Chapel Haven.
Funeral will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Rd., Woodbridge, CT. The interment will be in the B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave., New Haven.
