Harriet Ranger Markle, age 85, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at her home in Woodbridge surrounded by her family on December 3, 2010. Wife of the late William Markle. Loving mother of Robert (Patricia Walsh) of Fairfax, VA, John (Deborah) of East Haven, and Sandra (Joe Santos) of New Haven and grandchildren Jessica of Chicago, IL and Seth (Leanne) and great-granddaughter Olivia all of Seattle, WA. She is survived by one brother, William Ranger (Lydia) of Honolulu, Hawaii. She was predeceased by six brothers and sisters. Harriet worked for many years in the West Haven Tax Assessor's Office before retiring in 1993. After retirement, she worked in the West Haven Public Library system. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter, reading, and playing with her cats. She also loved the many Sunday dinners at her home with children and grandchildren.

Funeral service at the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven Monday at 11am. A period of mourning will be observed at the home of John and Deborah Markle in East Haven until 8:00 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit C, Middlebury, CT 06762.
