Harvey A. Lichter, DDS of 515 Ferry Road, Orange died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family January 23, 2013. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Fransen-Lichter. Born October 7, 1931 in New Haven CT. He was the son of the late Nathan and Rose (Calechman) Lichter. Beloved father of Jonathan (Sandi) Lichter of Woodbridge, Cathy (David) Futrowsky of Silver Spring, MD, Michael (Tori) Lichter of Wallingford, and step-father of Heidi (Tom) Snell of Orange and John (Heidi) Meyenberg of Waterford. He was predeceased by a son David Lichter. Cherished grandfather of Melissa (Michael) Schweizer, Mara Lichter, Kate and Julie Futrowsky, Victoria (Andrew) Zuckerman, Tracy Lichter, TJ, Katelyn and Joshua Snell, Zachary and Jordyn Meyenberg. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Harvey was an Oral- Maxillofacial Surgeon and practiced in New Haven until 2011. He was a graduate of The University of Connecticut and Temple University and proudly served as a Captain in the U. S. Air Force. He was an avid Civil War buff who enjoyed boating, motorcycling and many camping trips in his motorhome with the love of his life, Betty. He took great pride and enjoyment from all of his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters: Ruth Sigal, Mollye Barnett, Mildred Hillman, Adele Lev and Sylvia Zitser.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held 1:pm Sunday, January 27 at Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Road, Orange. Relatives and friends may call Sunday at the home of Jonathan and Sandi Lichter, 30 Beechwood Road, Woodbridge between 6 and 9:pm. Memorial contributions made be made to the charity of one's choice.
