Helaine Sandra Blech Beresner (87), better known as 'Cookie,' was born in Portchester, NY, and passed peacefully on November 27, 2025 with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Alan Beresner and the mother of Steven Beresner (Faye) and Lauren Beresner Kesten, and the grandmother to Madeline Kesten. She was the devoted daughter of her parents, Hannah and Frank Blech, and niece to Minnie Eskowitz and Samuel Escoett. She married Alan Beresner on April 20, 1958, in New Haven. Their courtship began in high school and lasted 70 years. Cookie was a stay-at-home mother and had many interests, one being collecting vintage cookie jars, a hobby that lasted over 40 years. She was also a dedicated volunteer at The Jewish Home for the Aged in New Haven.
A graveside service was held on November 30 at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave. New Haven. Contributions may be made to Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven, jfsnh.org.
