Ida Miriam Bellin, died Nov. 27, 2015. She was born Ida Slutsky on April 18, 1921 in Pottsville, PA, and spent most of her life in New Haven, CT where she graduated from Commercial High School in 1938 and worked as a manager and fashion model at Malley's Department Store. Her parents were Rabbi Abraham Slutsky, a rabbi, cantor, and mohel, and his wife Sarah. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Milton Bellin, a UConn graduate who was a chemist and Standards & Methods Engineer. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Bellin-Lyons, a son Harvey F. Bellin, and a grand-daughter, Ashley Lyons. She dedicated her life to helping people — relatives, friends and others — as well as animals in need. Like a biblical heroine she was always there to provide comfort, guidance, caring and a great abundance of healthy, delicious food. She embodied the values, virtues wit and transcendent kindness of America's "Greatest Generation."
