Isadore E. "Zeke" Still of New Haven, CT passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Jewish Home for the Aged in New Haven, where he lived for many years. Born in New York, NY on December 24, 1906 to Hyman and Sarah Still; he moved to New Haven with his family as a young boy. He is survived by a son, Attorney Gerald M. Still of Orange, CT, a daughter, Nancy Still Garavuso of New York, NY, granddaughters Jacquelyn Romanoff (Stuart Romanoff) and Lauren Polikoff and 5 great grandchildren; Alexandra, Brandon and Nicholas Romanoff and Jake and Ryan Polikoff. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Beatrice Koslow Still and his daughter-in-law Barbara M. Still and by 6 siblings. Zeke was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and Yale University (Class of 1928). He and his brother Robert owned and operated Superior Paper Products Company for over 50 years in New Haven. He served as President of the New Haven Probus Club and was involved in many local Civic organizations. He was a member of the Zionest Organization of America and a volunteer for the United Jewish Appeal for many decades. During WWII he worked at Winchesters and also served as an air raid warden. He was a lifelong member of Congregation B'nai Jacob Synagogue. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT. The interment will be in the B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave., New Haven. A private period of mourning will be observed. Donations may be made to the New Haven Jewish Home for the Aged.
