Miriam (Micki) E. Cantor of Orange, CT died July 7, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born December 14, 1939 in Hartford, CT., she was the wife of Edward H. Cantor, daughter of the late Faye and Arthur Levy, mother of David Cantor of Woodbridge, grandmother of Joshua and Zoe Cantor of Woodbridge and sister of Richard Levy of Arlington, VA. Miriam was married to Edward for 39 years. She was a graduate of Syracuse University and received a Masters Degree in Archaeology from Yale University, while in the midst of intensive chemotherapy. Miriam enjoyed a successful career as a teacher and advertising executive, but her greatest achievement was as a wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at Temple Emanuel, 150 Dogwood Rd., Orange, CT, Sunday, July 10 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. The interment will be in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Derby - Milford Rd., Orange. A period of mourning will be observed at the cantor home, 571 Arrowhead Dr., Orange from Sunday evening through Tuesday evening from 6:30-9:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made for cancer research to the Cantor-Smith Endowment, c/o Peter Lamothe, Yale Cancer Center, 157 Church St., New Haven, CT 06510.
