Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Myra Morse Rochow announce her passing on December 17th. Myra will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Walter Rochow and her children, Sharon Gaynor (Eric), Faye Pite Beresner (Steven), and Carl Rochow (Heidi). Myra will also be dearly remembered by her six grandchildren, Rebecca, Michelle, Renée, Samantha, David, and Lauren. She is survived by her sister Barbara Bashe. Myra graduated from John Adams High School in Queens, New York in 1958 and owned and operated MB Interiors for 25 years. Myra was tirelessly committed to the community and passionately believed in the importance of public health. She was the Commissioner of QVHD for more than 20 years. She demonstrated her support and love of her community as Justice of the Peace in Hamden for 25 years. Myra was a multi-faceted person: she loved baking for the Jewish holidays and restoring antique cars, with active participation in the Connecticut Historical Automobile Society. Myra was industrious and continually worked on home improvement projects; the family affectionally referred to her as the female Bob Villa. Myra was an admirer of Puccini's operas; La Boheme was her favorite. Myra was full of life, joy, and energy. She openly shared her genuine brand of warmth and love. She had a unique and meaningful bond with her six grandchildren and was especially devoted to her family and friends. Myra shared her love in extraordinary ways that made the people around her feel special and understood. The family would like to share a special thanks to the nurses of the seventh floor of Smilow for the love and kindness they gave Myra.
