Roy S. Kussner, EdD 66, formerly of Shelton, Weston, and Avon died on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC after a strong and courageous three year battle with Myelodysplastic  Syndrome with Myeloproliferative Disease. He was much loved by his daughter and son-in law, Kelly and Scott Wulinsky, his son Sean Kussner, and his wonderful grandsons, Tyler David and Ryan Edward Wulinsky, who all spent his last months together in SC and NC.  He was so loved by his sister and brother-in-law, Dale and Brian Osborn and his niece Deanna Osborn of Newington and nephew and his family, Jason, Rebecca, Celia, and Eden Osborn of Chicago, Illinois.   He leaves many cousins and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who all enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor, knowledge about everything and his big bear hugs. He was born in Shelton son of late Morris and Frances Kussner and graduated from Shelton High School in 1962. He received a BS, MS, Sixth and Seventh Year Certificates and a Doctorate in Education. Roy was the consummate teacher of science from the elementary level (mostly in New Caanan) through college at Fairfield University. He loved sharing his knowledge and learning from his students. He was an avid reader, could fix anything, could build anything, and especially loved riding his Harley motorcycle with his friends in CT and Sun City, SC. He will always be in our hearts!

Funeral service at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Lades Pl., Shelton, Sunday afternoon at 2. The family will be sitting shiva at Dale and Brian Osborn's house, 66 Patriot Lane, Newington, CT 06111 from Sunday (Feb. 13) 7pm through Monday evening (Feb. 14).
