William Earl Weiner, of 56 Quarry Dock Rd., Branford, beloved husband of Lois Bolton Weiner for 61 years, died at home, Sunday, August 2, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Haven, Ct., July 19, 1919, he was a son of the late Rachel and Jacob Weiner. Loving father of Marjorie (Roger) Weiner, Scott (Andrea) Weiner, and Michael (Sheryl) Weiner. Brother of the late Milton, Sherman, Howard, Marshall, Eleanor Kaye, and Virginia Fineberg. Devoted brother-in-law of Ester Weiner. Cherished grandfather of Mathew, Jonathan, Harold, Joshua, Max, and Ross. Mr. Weiner graduated New York University School of Fine Arts, and served as lieutenant in World War II in China, Burma, and India. He was the owner of Jacob Weiner & Sons and the Tire Center for 65 years, and Past Master of Cosmopolitan Lodge #125. Mr. Weiner was a member of Congregation Mishkan Israel for 62 years, and supported many other philanthropic community organizations.
Funeral service at the Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Rd., Hamden, CT. Wednesday morning at 11. Interment in the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Whalley Ave., New Haven. Period of mourning will be observed at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Weiner, 36 Elderslie La., Woodbridge, CT., 7 to 9 PM through Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Cong.
